An Introduction

Participants in the Program

New Direction teaches subjects to enhance their reading and writing skills, manage their finances, learn conflict management and child care skills, learn skills to effectively deal with domestic violence, and make them employment-ready to be successful in the workplace. Our goal is to increase personal skills and provide job training to meet the needs of the local job market.

Our Vision

New Direction CWJC Brazos Valley is a ministry that offers tools by which lives can be spiritually, emotionally, physically, economically, and socially changed. This ministry, rooted in scripture and grounded in prayer, seeks to provide a Christian environment with Bible study, and one-on-one mentoring relationships in which women are empowered and encouraged for a new life in Jesus Christ while gaining job and life skills to enhance their lives and those of their families.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower women through job skills training, Bible study, and prayer to find a New Direction to enrich their lives.

Statement of Faith

We believe in the Trinity, God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and the Bible as the Word of God. Salvation comes through grace by believing in Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God, our Savior and Lord. Once saved, the Holy Spirit indwells, thereby instructing, guiding, and empowering the individual to follow the mandate of Jesus Christ in daily living. CWJC, a ministry of WMU, is a response to this mandate.

Our Purpose

The purpose of Christian Women's Job Corps, a ministry of WMU, is to provide a Christian context in which women in need are equipped for life and employment, and a missions context in which women help women.
